Tradescantia Spathacea is a species of spiderwort and is also known as the Boat Lilly or Cradle Lilly due to its cradle or boat shaped blooms. It is also sometimes called the oyster plant.
How Much Water?
Tradescantias should be watered when the soil starts to dry out. Keep the top inch of soil moist, which usually means watering once a week. Adjust for more or less humid conditions.
How Much Sun?
Tradescantia loves light and can tolerate all- day lighting in a home environment. We advise bright but indirect light to avoid sunburn damage to the leaves. The more natural sunlight a Tradescantia gets, the more purple its leaves will develop!
Best Temp & Humidity?
Ideal conditions are 65°F-85°F, and not below 60°F. Tradescantias prefers humid conditions, so it’s a great plant for the bathroom, where it can enjoy the steam from your shower. Protect it from drafts and vents, since changes in temperature can shock the plant and cause damage.
Your Tradescantia Spathacea is mildly poisonous, so take care to keep away from small humans and family pets.
