Weeping Fig is native to tropical areas and enjoys a long history of decorative and even religious significance: the tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment was said to be a member of the Ficus genus!
How Much Water?
Ficus plants need consistent but moderate watering throughout the growing season, with dry spells in the winter. Ensure that your soil is just moist, not dry or drenched, at all times, but cut back waterings in the winter. Your plant will likely lose leaves during the winter "dry" spell.
How Much Sun?
Ficus plants love lots of bright, indirect sunlight. They enjoy spending time outside during the summer, but protect the plant from direct sunlight until gradually acclimated
Best Temp & Humidity?
A ficus prefers temperatures between 65°-80°F. They do not do well in temperatures below 55°F. Keep away from cold drafts and heaters.
Ficus plants don't suffer from serious insect or disease problems, but watch for scale, aphids, mealybugs, thrips and spider mites. Dieback and leaf spots may occur. Plants may drop foliage when brought indoors for winter or if moved to a different environment within the home.
Toxic to pets. Keep out of reach of small humans and furry friends.
